Remembering Julie
Geralyn's story
Julie worked for the Trust for years, as an ATL at Cleeve Hill and latterly as the Unison Lead for the Trust. She was dedicated to what she did and kind to everyone she came into contact with
This time last year I had a call from Julie to let me know that she had been diagnosed with terminal cancer, and had probably at most three months to live. This was a real shock – she had only been ill for a few weeks.
She asked that her news was kept very confidential, whilst she attempted to get her head around things (as much as anyone can). When she was discharged from hospital she went to stay at St. Peter’s Hospice in Keynsham, where she received fantastic support. To show our appreciation for that, Vikki Cambridge, Kelly Gast and I took part in the Midnight Walk. We kept this fairly quiet, in respect to Julie’s wishes. Julie died last August, slightly sooner than her prognosis.
Julie worked for the Trust for years, as an ATL at Cleeve Hill and latterly as the Unison Lead for the Trust. She was dedicated to what she did and kind to everyone she came into contact with. If she didn’t directly make a difference to you she will have done to someone you know.
In remembrance of Julie, Rachel and I are taking part in the Midnight Walk. If you would like to join us (it’s on 13th July) you can register by clicking here. There is a £20 fee to enter and our team name is The Meehan Movers, so please include this when you sign up, remembering to put Milestones Trust as the company name.
Alternatively, if you aren’t in a position to participate, but would like to support us in our fundraising mission, please follow our JustGiving link by clicking here.
