Muddy good fun
Lorraine's story
When Lorraine started taking wheel-throwing classes, she rekindled her love of pottery!
Our mission is to enable the people we support to live happy and fulfilled lives. One part of that is encouraging them to pursue hobbies and interests that they’re passionate about or have a talent for.
Lorraine, who lives at one of our services in Yate, has always had a flair for arts and crafts. She’s particularly passionate about pottery. She learnt foundational pottery skills when she was younger but had stopped doing this hobby for many years.
Last Autumn, Lorraine started taking wheel-throwing classes, and she rekindled her love of pottery! She’s very good at keeping her hands steady and shaping the pot with her fingers whilst it revolves on the wheel. She also enjoys painting and decorating the pots and bowls she makes. Three very useful plant pots are among her most recent creations.
The process can be a bit messy, but it’s definitely a therapeutic, satisfying and fun activity. Best of all, if things don’t go to plan you can always scrap what you’re doing and start afresh!
Lorraine’s love of pottery has really grown in the last year. She’s been enjoying making and painting more and more pots. She might soon be able to open her own exhibition!
