Our Awards

2024

EASPD Innovation Award

In May 2024, Milestones Trust was honoured with one of the European Association of Service Providers for persons with Disabilities (EASPD)’s prestigious Innovation Awards for outstanding contributions to mental health rehabilitation and recovery at its Move on Project service. The award recognises Milestones Trust’s commitment to supporting people to achieve the best possible outcomes, focusing on people as individuals rather than on their diagnosis or disability.

2024

Care Awards

Organised by Care & Support West and held at Ashton Gate stadium in Bristol, the annual Care Awards recognise the very best examples of care and support from across the region.

The 2024 Care Awards will be held in September, but five individuals from around Milestones have been shortlisted as finalists in the following categories:

  • Kathy Sterling and Simon Fagg have been shortlisted in the Rainbow Heart category for their efforts in building a supportive relationship with a person who gets very distressed at any mental health input or mention of the mental health team visiting.
  • Louise Copping has been shortlisted for the Activities/Wellbeing Coordinator award for going above and beyond to improve the mental health of people we support through the Expressions arts programme.
  • Algirdas Morkunas has been shortlisted in the Ancillary Support Front Line award category for going out of his way to look after the environment at our Mayo House service, treating it as if it were his own home, and making sure that it’s as well presented and welcoming for the people we support as possible.
  • David Colla has been shortlisted in the Volunteer Front Line category for nearly ten years of voluntary work with a person we support in Fishponds.

We’re proud of all of our finalists, and look forward to celebrating their achievements with them at the award ceremony later this year.

2023

Care Awards

Organised by Care & Support West and held at Ashton Gate stadium in Bristol, the annual Care Awards recognise the very best examples of care and support from across the region.

In 2023, a total of three individuals (plus one whole team!) from around Milestones were shortlisted as finalists – and we were proud to be selected as winners on the night in two different categories:

  • The team from our 2A Court Road service in Kingswood was awarded the Rainbow Heart Award for their work providing above-and-beyond care to an individual that had received a terminal diagnosis. The Rainbow Heart focuses on highlighting the very best examples of person-centred support so winning the award meant a lot to the team, particularly given the nature of their nomination.
  • Liz Gray was awarded Volunteer of the Year in recognition of her incredible efforts with The Music Train, one of Milestones’ community projects. Liz set up the Music Train in 2013 and has since held over 400 accessible music events for people who would otherwise find attending live music challenging. The award was well deserved, and a testament to Liz’s years of dedication to the initiative.
