Ann's story
I'm so grateful to the staff and other volunteers for what they have done for Becky Boo. She's a happy-go-lucky young lady living her best life!
Ann’s daughter, Becky, lives at Flaxpits, one of our residential homes. She’s been with Milestones since she was 18 years old, and the team at Flaxpits has supported Becky through many achievements and milestones.
Staff encourage Becky to try new things and are always there to support her and offer guidance. Ann says “I’m so grateful to the staff and other volunteers for what they have done for Becky Boo. She’s a happy-go-lucky young lady living her best life since moving to Flaxpits seven years ago.”
Ann recently cycled *50 miles* during the month of May, to fundraise for Flaxpits. Over the course of the month, she did three individual legs and raised a fantastic £355, (and still rising) hitting her target! Ann’s fundraising journey started when she witnessed her daughter start to have a seizure while on a video call and, within seconds of the seizure starting, staff at Flaxpits ran over to help her. Ann said “I was blown away with how fast they responded to her. I would never be able to provide her with that level of support due to my own disabilities”. After witnessing Becky’s seizure, Ann decided she wanted to raise some money for the service, and so her 50-mile cycle challenge began!
Ann has been training at her local gym in Goole, East Yorkshire, with the guidance of her personal trainer, Kelly, who has encouraged Ann every step of the way. And during her first challenge, Ann was already planning her next! 100 miles at Christmas, so watch this space!
