Supporting Elizabeth to live her life

Elizabeth had lived in a residential care home in Pembrokeshire for a while. Even though she liked it there, she was very far away from all her family as most of them live in Bristol area. Despite the best efforts of staff, Elizabeth was missing her sister and expressed her wishes to live closer to her family. This got worse when the pandemic hit and Elizabeth was no longer able to see them on a regular basis.

Luckily, she was able to move to Crantock Drive in Almondsbury, which is 5 minutes away from her sister. This was the start of her journey with Milestones Trust. The beginning was tough as she had to be shielded and protected from Coronavirus, but her sister was always there by her window or in the garden to keep her company and ease the move. She was supported by the staff at Crantock to be creative in meeting up while staying safe and following government guidelines.  Once the government rules had changed she was able to catch up with her family on a regular basis. As she is close to them, she is now able to participate in family gatherings, barbeques and trips out including sleep-overs. She loves to tell staff about what she has been up to and how tall her nieces and nephews have grown. She is a very proud auntie.

Elizabeth said: “I am very happy here. I can see my family and I like everything around me.”
